Hello everyone! My name is Cheryl Lagana. I am originally from NEPA and am glad to be home. After a lifelong interest in science and animals, it was a natural fit to go into veterinary medicine. I carried this interest with me to the University of Scranton, with a major in Biology, and then to the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine (I-L-L-I-N-I!) where I graduated in 2009. I have been working in Northeastern Pennsylvania since graduation.
It is probably the simplest statement but it captures exactly how I feel: I love this profession. It is an honor to be allowed to share the bond between my clients and their pets. I joined Abington Veterinary Center after working here part time in 2012

Hello! My name is Colin Gibson and I’m from Drums, Pennsylvania. Both of my parents are retired physical therapists and my sister is a teacher. I originally went to the University of Scranton and obtained my English degree in 2009. I worked at a pharmaceutical warehouse for a year and a half, then had a desk job at a bank for three years. During this time, I realised what I truly wanted to do was to go back to school to become a veterinarian. I started working here at Abington Veterinary Center as an assistant while I earned my degree in Biology. During the last year of obtaining that degree, I proposed to my girlfriend and applied to veterinary school. She said yes, and I was accepted at the University of Glasgow. I finished my final exams on May 20 and got married on May 27. Just a few whirlwind months later we moved to Glasgow with our dog and three cats. We fell in love with the city, and Glasgow quickly became our home. That was in 2016, and after five wonderful years, I graduated from the University of Glasgow in June 2021and moved back to Pennsylvania.

“There was no conscious time in my life where I decided I wanted to work with animals; it has always been a natural part of who I am.
The first veterinary hospital I worked for was in 1984, it was located in the quaint little town of Hatboro in Montgomery County, PA.
My love for animals led me to my career as the hospital manager at the Abington Veterinary Center, dog training, specializing in behavior, and my hobbies, which include writing, sheep-herding and obedience competitions.
When I'm not at the hospital, I enjoy family time with my husband, children, grandchildren and dogs.

Boots was a kennel cat from the college that I attended who needed a home, so of course I couldn't resist. Seamus was an abandoned kitten, only 2 weeks of age. I took him home and hand raised him until he was old enough to find a home. He found one alright, with me.
I attended college at the Vet Tech Institute in Pittsburgh. There I earned my Associate Degree and Certified Veterinary Technician License.
Hi! I graduated from North Pocono High School in 2011 and started with the Veterinary Technology program at Johnson College that fall. After two years at Johnson college I started my internship with Abington and fell in love with the doctors, staff and clients. I graduated in June of 2013 from Johnson College and earned my CVT certification in July.

Once my children were in high school I worked at my family's bridal shop until my mother and sister retired and closed the business. I thought it would be nice to be home again but found with no children to take care of, I missed the girls I worked with and having, "a purpose."

We have five well spoiled kitties at home and love animals, plus getting to work all day with cats on my desk is kind of the best thing ever! My husband and I enjoy spending time on a small beach by the Lackawaxen river where we were married, and our family frequents Ocean Grove just before the start of summer. Our daughter enjoys the beauty of nature and loves being immersed in a book. We have been long time residents of the Abington area and absolutely love it here. Everyone at the practice has been so welcoming, I look forward to getting to know all of you and plan on spending many years here at Abington Veterinary Center!
